Esset Teshome is a junior at Princeton University, studying educational policies in the School of Public and International Affairs and pursuing a minor in Translation and Intercultural Communication. Her interest in languages and Ge’ez started young as she grew up in the Ethiopian Orthodox church in Addis Ababa. She is currently learning Ge’ez and working on translating manuscripts from Ge’ez to Amharic. She assists with Amharic translation and transcribing Ge'ez to English translations with the PEMM team. In her free time, she likes to read literary fiction and go on walks

The Princeton Ethiopian, Eritrean, and Egyptian Miracles of Mary (PEMM) project is a comprehensive resource for the 1,000+ miracle stories written about and the 2,500+ images painted of the Virgin Mary in these African countries, and preserved in Geʿez between 1300 and the present.
