  • This painting has a caption in Geʿez, which Jeremy Brown has translated as: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, One God. We are beginning to write the miracles of our Lady, the two-fold Holy Virgin, Mary the mother of God. May her prayer and her blessing be with our king Śahlä Maryam and with our queen Wälättä Mika'el forever and ever amen. It is said that there was a bishop in the church of Ṭəlṭəlya whose name was Däqsəyos.
